My word for 2016 is SIMPLIFY. My dear friend Melissa gave me this book and I’m so grateful – perfect timing. Last week I headed to Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee, Inc. and dropped off an entire Jetta full of clothes, random bits, boxes of books, weird electronic things, and cables. I have 2 more Hello Fresh size boxes of papers to recycle and 1 more box full of papers to be shredded.
Not sure the weight of those items, but I feel my very soul is 20 pounds lighter. And I still have more to go. All my records will be digital (saving me paper & storage) thanks to Dropbox, and I haven’t even started on my closet yet. I’ve hung more art in my home – beautiful things that bring me joy. I’ve unearthed items that made me laugh out loud – and I put them on the wall so I can see them every day.
When I was in Japan visiting my family stationed there, I admired the lack of clutter in their home (My nephew is 1 – they STILL had a clutter free home!!! Geniuses.) Therefore, I simplify. I will surround myself with people and things and activities that bring me joy. Everything else must go.
Hoard no more, my friends!
